SONOMA, Calif. (Sept. 28, 2017) - Race fans can enjoy an unforgettable ride on the twists and turns of Sonoma Raceway's road course during this weekend's Classic Sports Racing Group (CSRG) Charity Challenge, as the organization races to raise $1 million for Speedway Children's Charities.

Spectators get three thrilling laps around Sonoma Raceway in a historic race car, including Ferraris, Mustangs, Corvettes, Porsches, Alfa Romeos and more. The Charity Track Rides are the primary focus of CSRG's fundraising efforts during the Charity Challenge, which has generated more than $830,000 to the Sonoma chapter of Speedway Children's Charities (SCC) since 2004, and will race to raise that mark to $1 million over the course of the event weekend.
"What an amazing day for a fantastic cause!  I rode in a Porsche 911 which felt like it had rubber cement for tires.  You won't find a more exciting way to contribute to local kids in need," said Park City, Utah's Drew, who participated in the rides last year.

Riders must be at least 16 years old, in good health and wear a long-sleeve shirt, pants and closed toe shoes to ride. Prices for the Charity Track Rides range from $75-$500, depending on the chosen car.  Sign-ups for the rides start at 9 a.m. on Saturday and always sell out quickly, so arrive at the track early to reserve your spot. The rides are slated to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Race fans can also support Speedway Children's Charities during the Charity Challenge by purchasing $5 raffle tickets to win the "Let's Go Karting" charity raffle to win a full karting day for you and up to 20 family and friends. Tickets will be available at the charity booth inside the garages.

The Charity Challenge is a great family event. Children 12 years and younger and students of all ages are admitted free with student I.D. Active and veteran military members are also admitted free. Admission covers entry to all spectator areas, as well as paddock access and parking. Guests can stroll the paddock to see the cars up close and chat with the drivers. Tickets can be purchased online at www.SonomaRaceway.com/events before 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29 for $12 each day or $20 for a two-day pass. Tickets at the gate are $25 each day or $40 for a weekend pass.

The Sonoma chapter of SCC, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway, is dedicated to raising money for Sonoma County youth organizations. SCC has distributed more than $5.6 million since 2001.
