July doesn't slow down at Sonoma Raceway—just two weeks after NASCAR's Cup Series weekend in Wine Country, Sonoma Raceway is shifting gears in a big way as we trade stock cars for the pure nitro power of the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals. As we gear up for NHRA weekend from July 25-27, the track is undergoing an incredible transformation as we put all our focus on the drag strip in preparation for the heart-pounding excitement.
As one of the few stops on the West Coast, NHRA's visit to Sonoma brings a unique setting to the schedule, with cool evening air and coastal conditions that are sure to yield record-breaking performances. Some of the key highlights for 2025 include:
- Friday Night Nitro: Experience Sonoma's only night race as Top Fuel and Funny Car drivers make qualifying runs under the bright lights.
- Special Appearances from Don Prudhomme "The Snake," Antron Brown, Ron Capps and more.
- Pro Stock Cars and Motorcycles make their run down the drag strip towards victory.
One new addition for 2025 is the Launch Pad Experience that brings fans into the action. The Launch Pad offers a shaded VIP area directly adjacent to the starting line, featuring unbeatable views, live feed screens, and private concessions. This upgrade is a must for any dragster fan who feels like they can never be close enough to the sweet smell of nitro.
To ensure the best experience, we recommend arriving early to avoid Sonoma traffic, as well as bringing layers—especially on Friday night during the Funny Car and Top Fuel qualifying sessions. The most essential piece of gear to carry is ear protection. NHRA cars are so loud that you'll feel it in your chest, so it's important to bring something to protect your eardrums from any noise damage.
From the roar of NASCAR stock cars to the thunder of Top Fuel, Sonoma Raceway is packing all the action into one month, making July the biggest racing month of the year. With stars like Antron Brown, Ron Capps, and Tony Stewart mixed in with record-breaking conditions, this year's Sonoma Nationals promises to be one of the most electrifying weekends on the calendar.
