NASCAR’s hottest road-course stud has done it again.
Picking up where he left off last week, Shane van Gisbergen won the Busch Light Pole Award for Sunday’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Cup Series race at Sonoma Raceway (3:30 p.m. ET, TNT Sports/truTV, HBO Max, PRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). Van Gisbergen posted a lap of 95.733 mph, topping Chase Briscoe (95.719 mph) for his third pole of the 2025 season.
This is SVG's second-consecutive pole award in Sonoma this weekend, as he also claimed the pole award for Saturday's Pit Boss/FoodMaxx 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race.
For Sunday's race, William Byron, Ross Chastain and AJ Allmendinger will start third through fifth, respectively. Ty Gibbs, Ryan Blaney, Tyler Reddick, Alex Bowman and Christopher Bell will complete the top-10 starters for Sunday’s 110-lapper. Blaney attempted a final lap at the end of Group 2 but went for a spin to derail that effort.
Qualifying was split between two groups for 20 minutes each, with the results of the two sessions merged to form the starting lineup for the fourth road-course event of the season.
