NASCAR weekend is just around the corner, which means it’s the perfect time to meet some of the key drivers who will be racing at Sonoma Raceway for the Toyota/Save Mart 350!
Championship Contenders
Joey Logano – No. 22 for Team Penske – Logano is a 3-time Cup champion fresh off his third title in 2024. Logano is known for his strength on road courses, especially at Sonoma, where he has achieved multiple top-ten finishes.
Christopher Bell – No. 20 for Joe Gibbs Racing – Bell started off the 2025 season strong, securing three back-to-back wins at Atlanta, COTA, and Phoenix, a feat that hasn’t been done since 2021.
Denny Hamlin – No. 11 for Joe Gibbs Racing – Hamlin is sitting comfortably with three race wins this season at Martinsville, Darlington, and Michigan. Hamlin is currently #11 on the all-time winners list with 57 wins. Despite his numerous race wins, Hamlin has yet to win at Sonoma.
Home-Track Favorites
Kyle Larson – No. 5 for Hendrick Motorsports – Larson is a fan favorite at Sonoma as a NorCal native and receives tremendous local support. He has two career wins at Sonoma and a history of being in the top five. Larson currently sits at #2 on the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series standings and has three race wins so far in the season.
Tyler Reddick – No. 45 for 23XI Racing – Reddick is another California native and has proven to be a strong performer on road courses. While still young in his career, Reddick has proven himself to be a driver to watch, especially after qualifying for the Championship 4 race in 2024.
Notable Drivers
Daniel Suarez – No. 99 for Trackhouse Racing – Suarez is a Sonoma favorite ever since he earned his first Cup race win at Sonoma in 2022. His win at Sonoma was a historic moment as he became the first Mexican-born Cup winner in history. Along with his full-time Cup Series racing, Suarez occasionally competes in the Xfinity Series and just won in Mexico.
Kyle Busch – No. 8 for Richard Childress Racing – Busch is often regarded as one of the most significant drivers of his generation and has the track record to prove it. He is currently #9 on the all-time Cup Series win list. Most notably, Busch has not won a race since he transitioned from Toyota to Chevrolet under Richard Childress Racing.
Chase Elliot – No. 9 for Hendrick Motorsports – Elliot currently sits at #4 in points for the NASCAR Cup Series with three top 5s under his belt so far. He has secured seven career road course wins, making him a strong contender for the upcoming Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma.
Chris Buescher – No. 17 for RFK Racing – Buescher is going to be a key player to watch at Sonoma with his history of three consecutive top 5s in Sonoma. He is known for his consistency, with his strength being late-race execution.
Shane van Gisbergen – No. 88 for Trackhouse Racing – SVG, originally from New Zealand, made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2025 after a successful Xfinity Series season in 2024, where he scored back-to-back wins at Portland and Sonoma. SVG is another Sonoma favorite, known for his high performance on road courses.
