Sonoma Raceway will launch the 2026 North American sports car racing season when the GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS returns to the iconic 12-turn road course March 27–29. The three-day event will bring world-class teams, drivers and exotic GT race cars to Northern California as the championship begins a new season on one of the most challenging circuits in North America.

The event serves as the opening round of the SRO Motorsports America championship, featuring the premier GT3 class machines from leading manufacturers such as Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG, BMW, Aston Martin, and others. Teams will compete in the weekend’s headline three-hour endurance race, where strategy, driver changes and pit stops combine with raw speed to test both drivers and machines while earning points toward the global GT World Challenge championship.

Fans attending the Sonoma weekend will enjoy a full slate of racing action beyond the main event. The schedule will include several SRO support series, such as GT America powered by AWS, Pirelli GT4 America, TC America powered by Skip Barber, Toyota GR Cup North America and McLaren Trophy America. Together, the lineup provides nearly nonstop on-track competition throughout the weekend and showcases a wide range of sports cars—from production-based touring cars to purpose-built GT racers.

In addition to the racing, Sonoma Raceway offers fans an immersive motorsports experience with open paddock access, allowing spectators to get up close to the cars, teams and drivers. Autograph sessions, meet-and-greet opportunities and interactive displays throughout the paddock and fan zone give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at the world of professional sports car racing.

Enthusiasts can also enhance their race weekend through premium experiences such as camping at the track, hospitality options and participation in the SRO Car Collective. The program allows owners of exotic and performance vehicles to display their cars in a dedicated area and take part in a parade lap around Sonoma Raceway’s historic road course.

The weekend will culminate Sunday with the featured GT World Challenge America endurance race, delivering the sound, speed and strategy that define top-tier GT racing. With a global field of competitors and a packed schedule of racing and fan activities, the return of GT World Challenge America promises an exciting start to the 2026 season at Sonoma Raceway.
