Moments after touching down at San Francisco International Airport, Christopher and Morgan Bell decided to make their obligatory “can’t-miss” stop at In-N-Out before diving into the “Day in the Bay” Tour. Once arriving in “The City,” the couple was treated with a custom sourdough experience at Boudin Bakery, a classic known as “The Original San Francisco Sourdough” for their delicious sourdough bread. Boudin Bakery is the city’s oldest continually operating business with roots dating back to 1849. Every Boudin Bakery makes their bread fresh every day and prides itself on its “mother” dough, the recipe for which has been passed down through generations. Morgan Bell, Christopher’s wife, loves baking in her spare time at home and was delighted to get the chance to see how the pros do it.

After Boudin, the Bells walked to Pier 39, the city’s famous waterfront that is home to restaurants, shops and entertainment. Named the most-visited attraction in San Francisco for nine consecutive years, Pier 39 sees millions of guests annually.

Following Pier 39, where Christopher was amazed to see sea lions for the first time, the couple made their way to Ghirardelli Square, another historic staple in the city, where they strolled through shops and indulged in a delicious chocolate treat. Ghirardelli, a landmark that dates back to the California Gold Rush, is a world-renowned chocolate factory.

The Bells then went for a ride in one of San Francisco’s classic cable cars – the last manually operated cable car system in the world. What once included 23 cable cars across the city to prevent horse-pulled streetcar accidents, has now become a bucket-list adventure for tourists.

The cable car dropped them off near Lombard Street, one of San Francisco’s most famous streets known for its eight hairpin turns down a steep block. Surrounded by well-kept homes and gardens, the street has been nicknamed “the crookedest street in the world.” Similar to the twists and turns of Sonoma Raceway, Christopher enjoyed the challenge of driving down Lombard Street in the Sonoma Raceway pace car and taking in all of the beautiful sights.

The couple then departed for San Francisco’s most iconic landmark – the Golden Gate Bridge – that spans across the Pacific Ocean between the San Francisco Peninsula and Marin County. As one of the Wonders of the World, the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most famous symbols of both San Francisco and California.
