The Wednesday Night Drags program, which is in its 29th year, saw two first-time winners, Sept. 7. Rohnert Park's Greg Rogers clocked in at 102.31 mph on his '16 HD to triumph over the usual Motorcycle class champion, Doug Love, and secured his first win this season. Sonoma Raceway's drag strip witnessed another first-time winner, Napa's Ron Jacks, in the Gear Jammer class in his '89 Mustang.

The Wednesday Night Drags gives drag racers the opportunity to drag race on Sonoma Raceway's world-famous quarter-mile drag strip. The objective of the program is to give people, from teen-agers to working professionals, a safe, legal and controlled environment in which to race their vehicles, as opposed to using city streets or back-county roads. Other class winners included: Montana's Jonathan Pinter (Jackpot); Windsor's Lenny Celiberti (Comp Rod); Newark's Rick McLlmoil (Sport Street); Novato's Bobby Grabrian (Street); and Santa Rosa's Jorge Valencia Jr. (High School).

The Wednesday Night Drags will resume in two weeks on Wednesday, Sept. 21, as the track will be making preparations for the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma next Wednesday. For more information, visit www.SonomaRaceway.com/youcanrace or call 800-870-RACE (7223).
