Sonoma Raceway will once again bring together high school students and local law enforcement for one of its longest-running and most impactful community programs as Top The Cops® returns for its 31st season in 2026. The popular drag racing program will run from April 15 through August, coinciding with the summer break for local high schools.
Part of the Sonoma Raceway Sonoma Drags program, Top The Cops provides teens with a safe, legal environment to experience drag racing while promoting responsible driving habits and positive engagement with law enforcement. Participants line up on the quarter-mile drag strip to race side-by-side against uniformed officers driving their patrol vehicles — a unique format that has become a signature of the program.
Since its inception, Top The Cops has emphasized education, safety, and community connection, offering young drivers an alternative to street racing while building mutual respect between teens and the officers who serve their communities. The program continues to draw strong participation from both students and law enforcement agencies throughout Northern California.
“Top The Cops and Sonoma Drags is an outstanding program that helps strengthen relationships between youth and law enforcement,” said Sonoma Raceway Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Flynn. “We’re proud that Sonoma Raceway can offer a safe, controlled environment where young people can learn about racing.”
As Sonoma Raceway celebrates more than three decades of Top The Cops, the program remains a cornerstone of its commitment to grassroots motorsports, traffic safety awareness, and meaningful community outreach.
