In an impactful evening leading up to NASCAR’s only stop in California, the Speedway Children’s Charities gala raised more than $116,000 on Friday night, strengthening a longstanding commitment to helping children in need across the Sonoma region and beyond.
The exclusive event, held at the spectacular Turn 11 building, featured a special tasting station and a meet-and-greet with Michelin-starred chef Tyler Florence, with each guest receiving a signed copy of Tyler's new book, American Grill.
During the event, guests were also treated to a gourmet plated dinner crafted by renowned chefs Tyler Florence, Chuck “Flavor Train” Matto and Ari Weiswasser. Wine pairings accompanied the meal, featuring selections from Three Fat Guys, Viansa, Miller & Lux and Caymus-Suisun Winery. Dinner was followed by an intimate performance from country singer/songwriter Tim Dugger, bringing everything full circle on a night filled with generosity, entertainment and unforgettable memories.
Since its founding in 1982 by Speedway Motorsports, Speedway Children’s Charities has remained steadfast in its mission: to care for children in educational, financial, social and medical need in collaboration with partner organizations across the United States. To date, Speedway Children’s Charities has distributed more than $72 million nationally to thousands of organizations dedicated to improving the lives of children.
“Tonight is about more than great food, wine and company -- it’s a celebration of our purpose and the power of community,” said Brian Flynn, Executive Vice President & General Manager of Sonoma Raceway during his remarks at the event. “Because of your support, children are getting the help they need in the Sonoma County area. Whether it’s food, shelter, medical care, education or protection from harm, your generosity makes real change possible.”
