While the roar of engines and record-breaking runs lit up the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals at Sonoma Raceway, the biggest victory of the weekend was off the track—where over $16,000 was raised for local children and families in need.

Through Speedway Children’s Charities Sonoma (SCC), the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway, fans and the NHRA community came together to support critical local causes. Funds were generated through Thursday morning’s Karting for a Cause event, which featured NHRA drivers competing on the karting track, and through SCC’s online auction, which included exclusive memorabilia signed by NHRA stars.

“We’re always blown away by the support we receive from the NHRA fan and industry community,” said Courtney Kiser, Director of SCC Sonoma. “These funds will do a tremendous amount of good for our local children and families in need.”

Since 2001, SCC Sonoma has distributed more than $6.8 million in grants to Sonoma County organizations focused on improving the lives of children. The funds raised during race weekend will be distributed through SCC’s annual grant program, continuing their mission to help local kids thrive.
