The competition is strong, and the fan activity list is long. As if the speedy dragsters and the beautiful Sonoma Valley aren’t enough, the 2022 Denso NHRA Sonoma Nationals will feature an abundance of events to keep race fans of all ages entertained.
Got a sweet tooth? Well, between the free donuts for campers and the wide variety of vendors, there is a snack to satisfy every taste bud. You can also check out the Speedway Children’s Charities Ice Cream stand behind the main grandstand. The ice cream stand is being hosted in honor of Eric Medlen, a northern California native who succumbed to injuries from a testing accident in 2007. He always said, “you can’t be sad when you’re eating ice cream.” While the ice cream is free, the stand will also be accepting donations to Speedway Children’s Charities which will directly benefit the children of Sonoma Valley.
Aside from the food, there are endless options to explore this race weekend. All ticket holders will have the opportunity to take a stroll down the dragstrip to see where all the action happens. Or you can take your drag racing experience to the next level with a pass to Thunder Valley, where you will have trackside access to watch the action in front of the main grandstand!
Fans will also have the opportunity to pop over to the east side of the strip to watch the racing from Sonoma Raceway’s Trackside Lounge. The lounge is the perfect place to watch the famed dragsters hurtle down the strip and also watch an iconic race between Northern California locals. Also, witness the return of Sonoma Raceway’s Top the Cops™ program, where local high school students go head-to-head with Bay Area Law Enforcement under the Friday night lights on the quarter-mile drag strip.
Got some antsy kiddos? Then stop by the Sonoma Raceway Kids Zone, behind the Main Grandstand, for fun all weekend! Kids will enjoy a weekend full of games, coloring, photo op fun, and much more! And don’t worry history buffs, they’ve got you covered too! You’ll have the opportunity to experience the Nostalgia Get Together Vintage Dragster Display. Explore and visit 31 vintage display dragsters in the H Garage throughout the weekend!
