SONOMA, Calif. (Aug. 9, 2018) - Top-tier motorcycle racing returns to Sonoma Raceway for round seven of the 2018 MotoAmerica Series at the Cycle Gear Championship of Sonoma this weekend.

On-track action will feature the Motul Superbike class, Supersport, Liqui Moly Junior Cup presented by RiderzLaw, the RiderzLaw Stock 1000 class and the RiderzLaw Twins Cup. Spectators will also enjoy a nod to the past with the Classic Superbike Racing Association featuring over 20 Superbikes from the early 1980s. Practice and qualifying are set for Friday, with racing action slated for Saturday and Sunday, August 11-12.

In the premier Motul Superbike class, Roseville's Cameron Beaubier enters the weekend with the hot hand after winning five of the last six races. He makes the short drive to wine country with a 49-point lead over Barcelona’s Toni Elias as he tries to win his third MotoAmerica Motul Superbike title. Coming off of two Superbike wins in Sonoma last year, you can see the challenge the others face in stopping Beaubier as the second half of the season rolls on.

Other local riders include Angwin’s Jayson Uribe (Superbike), Calistoga’s Wyatt Farris, Sunnyvale’s Michael Kim and Concord’s Valentine Welch (Supersport); Roseville’s Marc Edwards and Union City’s Cory Ventura (Liqui Moly Junior Cup); Clovis’ Andrew Lee, Napa’s Roi Holster, El Sobrante’s Sevastiao Ferreira and Santa Cruz’s Georg Myshlyayev (Stock 1000); and Fresno’s Jason Catching (Twins).

Race fans will enjoy plenty of action off the track as MotoAmerica has put together a Carnival on Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., featuring plenty of family fun, including the Water Race Game, Balloon Pop, a multi-game trailer with Alien Stars, Flip-A-Chick and Ducks Away, a MotoGP Racing Simulator Arcade Game and other Carnival Midway Booths with games like Milk Can Mania, Ring The Bottle and the strength-testing Hi-Striker. Kids can also enjoy a Disney-themed Five-In-One Bouncer as well as a customizable photo booth.  Entry to the Carnival is free with an event ticket.

The Globe of Death returns to the MotoAmerica paddock stunt show where riders defy gravity and fear to astound and entertain the whole family. Saturday and Sunday will close out with Garage Parties each day, featuring live music from Kitty Hawk with Annie Bosko on Saturday and The Vagabond Brothers on Sunday.
