Join NHRA Drag Racers at Charity Karting Event at Sonoma Raceway
Adrenaline seekers and racing enthusiasts can go-kart head-to-head against NHRA drag racing stars at the 18th annual NHRA Tour de Charity at the Sonoma Raceway Karting Center on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Three NHRA drag racers will headline this year’s event, including first-time participant Top Fueler Austin Prock and veteran participants 2016 Funny Car world champion Ron Capps and Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Scotty Pollacheck. This popular event provides an all-inclusive day of karting fun on the raceway’s ¾-mile kart track, including kart rental, race suit, helmet, professional driving instruction, lunch, plus a chance to rub elbows with the NHRA racers for just $350 per person.
All proceeds from this event benefit Speedway Children's Charities, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway; $187,000 has been generated since the event's inception in 2003.
This event will be held with COVID-19 precautions in place, including social distancing, required facial coverings and frequent hand washing. Access to Tour de Charity will be limited to participants and raceway personnel only; minor participants may bring one parent/guardian. Spectators will not be permitted.
“I can’t wait to get back on the kart track with some of my friends from back home and all the participants who sign up,” said Capps. “This is such a fun event for Speedway Children’s Charities and I’m glad the charity was able to make it happen this year.”
The Sears Point Racing Experience will provide the karts, race suits, and professional instruction for all competitors. Participants will also have a chance to compete in a 10-lap timed race at the end of the day. All karting levels are welcome. Participants must be 13 years or older, at least 4'10" in height, and weigh less than 250 lbs.
“This was awesome. It’s incredible and I had such a great time. I highly recommend it to anyone who’s even thinking about coming to this event. It was even more fun than I expected,” said 2019 first-time participant Jeff Winkler of Livermore.
