SONOMA, Calif. (Sept. 22, 2016) — The worlds of vintage racing and charitable giving will come together for a weekend of fun in wine country during the 13th annual Classic Sports Racing Group (CSRG) Charity Challenge at Sonoma Raceway, Oct. 1-2.

More than 200 incredible vintage race cars will hit the track for a full weekend of racing on the 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course. The event will feature road-racing cars from Formula 1 to Formula Junior, prototype and production sports cars from marques such as Maserati, Lotus, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Porsche and Corvette principally from the '50s, '60s and '70s.

A highlight of the weekend will be the MG West Coast Reunion, as MG has been named the event's featured marque. MG, a British automotive marque best known for its two-seat open-cockpit sports cars, has been used in competition since the early 1930s.

Nine race groups will be featured in practice and qualifying races on Saturday and main events on Sunday. All proceeds from the weekend benefit Sonoma County youth groups through Speedway Children's Charities (SCC), the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway. CSRG has generously contributed more than $780,000 to SCC since 2004.

Tickets can be purchased online prior to Sept. 30 for $12 each day or $20 for a two-day pass. Tickets are the gate are $25 each day or $40 for a weekend pass. This is intended to be a family-friendly event, and students of all ages as well as military and veterans are admitted free with appropriate identification; parking is free.

To join in the charitable fun, spectators can enjoy an unforgettable ride around the road course on Saturday and Sunday. For a $75-$500 donation, depending upon the chosen car, fans can take a thrilling, three-lap ride around the road course in one of the participating race cars. Riders must be at least 16 years old, be in good health and wear a long-sleeve shirt and pants to ride.

Last year's charity rides featured everything from a Shadow DN4 Can-Am car to a Ferrari 250 GTO. The Charity Track Rides will begin at 1 p.m. on both days and always sell out quickly. Sign-ups begin at 9 a.m.

Race fans can also support Speedway Children's Charities during the Charity Challenge by purchasing raffle tickets for the Little Wheels, Big Fun raffle featuring great gifts for both the young and adult race fan! The raffle features a DYNACRAFT 12 volt roadster (for ages 3 and up) as well as a gift certificate for a set of four Yokohama tires. Fans can purchase $1 raffle tickets at the charity booth located inside the garages.
