Infineon Raceway STP Wednesday Night Drag Racing Results (June 15)
By Jim McCombe

Racers attending the STP Wednesday Night Drags at Infineon Raceway, June 15, were treated to some great racing weather in the mid 80's, but that was no match for the even hotter action that was taking place on the quarter-mile drag strip.

In an evening marked by upsets, two familiar faces ended their long STP Wednesday Night Drags droughts and broke through with wins. Steve Parrish, a retired lather from Richmond, drove the same car that he started off with back in 1967 at the old Vaca Valley Raceway. He took his ‘55 Chevy station wagon to a big victory in the Jack Pot class. Napa's Joe Rossi, who was long overdue for a win, nailed down the win in the hotly contested Comp Rod division with his clean 67 Pontiac Firebird. Rossi put away Steve Cassatt's Vega, who was making his first final round appearance. Other winners included Randy Monte (Motorcycle), Doug McCay (Sport Street), Joe Piazza (Street), Marko Perivolaris (High School) and Jonny Rice (Gear Jammers).

In the Top The Cops™ finals, area police officers continued their domination and managed to win two of three races against the High School students

As a reminder, there will be no STP Wednesday Night Drags races next week (June 22) due to the track preparations for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR event but will return the following week on June 29. If you can't attend the STP Wednesday Night Drags, you can always follow the action live on
