The Classic Sports Racing Group (CSRG) returns to Sonoma Raceway, Oct. 4-5, for the 11th CSRG Charity Challenge race weekend benefitting the Sonoma Chapter of the Speedway Children's Charities.

Vintage car racing will be front and center in Sonoma with nearly 300 vintage racecars set to grace the road course over the weekend. The event will feature road-racing cars, spanning Formula 1, prototype sports cars and production sports cars principally from the '50s, '60s & '70s, as well as some gems from the '30s.

In addition, the premier historic F1 racing organization, Masters HGP, will join the event with a more than 20 Formula 1 cars from the '60s to the early '80s. This is an incredibly rare opportunity to see the fastest road racing cars in the world. It's been two years since this series visited the West Coast, and the class will be highlighted by famous machines from Ferrari, McLaren, Lotus, Tyrrell and more.

The event will feature nine race groups with qualifying and races on Saturday and Sunday slated for the 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course. Tickets can be purchased at the gate and are $25 each day or $40 for a two-day pass. High school and college students as well as military and veterans are admitted free with appropriate identification.

Proceeds from this race weekend will benefit the Sonoma Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities (SCC), the charitable arm of the raceway.  CSRG has contributed over $600,000 to Sonoma County youth organizations through Speedway Children's Charities since 2004.

A proven highlight of the event are the charity rides on Saturday and Sunday. For a $75-$500 donation, depending upon the car chosen, fans can take a thrilling, three-lap ride around the road course in one of some 30 different participating race cars. The Charity Track Rides will be midday on both days and always sell out quickly. Sign-ups begin at 9 a.m. Pace car rides and checkered flag waving opportunities are also available.

The race weekend will also feature a charity raffle with all proceeds benefiting SCC.  Raffle tickets are: $10 each; $25 for 3; and $50 for a 'stretch.' Prizes include racing memorabilia, gift cards and driver-autographed paraphernalia. Raffle tickets can be purchased in the garages, adjacent to the Panasonic Technology Center.
