The Classic Sports Racing Group (CSRG) kicks off its 47th season at Sonoma Raceway with the David Love Memorial Vintage Races, April 5-6.

Vintage car racing will take center stage in Sonoma with approximately 200 vintage and historic race cars set to grace the road course over the weekend. Fans can expect to see Formula 1 cars, prototype and production sports cars principally from 1950s-1970s, as well as some notable cars from the 1930s. In addition, Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year Lyn St. James and Formula Atlantic Champion Dan Marvin are among the expected entrants.

The season opener will be held in honor of David Love, a longtime Bay Area resident and CSRG's co-founder, who passed away in 2013. Love was instrumental in the growth of the organization, which has contributed more than $600,000 to the Sonoma chapter of Speedway Children's Charities, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway, through its race weekends.

The event will feature open practice on Friday, with vintage racing slated in each of the eight race groups for the 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course on Saturday and Sunday. Each race group will compete in three races each over the two days for a total of 24 races over the course of the weekend. Spectators will also get full access to the cars and drivers in the paddock.

Sonoma Raceway's Wine Country BBQ and Sears Point Taqueria will offer an array of food to spectators, including Niman Ranch burgers, lamb, pepper and red wine sausages as well as grilled carne asada.   Local craft beer beers, Sonoma Valley wines and Korbel Champagne will also be available for purchase.

Gates open at 8 a.m. each day.  Admission is $25 per day or $45 for a weekend pass, which includes parking, as well as access to the paddock and all spectator areas. Children 12 and under, active and veteran military members as well as high school and college students with appropriate identification, will be admitted FREE. A portion of proceeds from the event weekend will benefit the Sonoma Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway.

CSRG returns to Sonoma Raceway, Oct. 4-5, for the 10th annual CSRG Charity Challenge, which also benefits Speedway Children's Charities. For more information on the Classic Sports Racing Group, visit or email
