Drifting takes center stage at Infineon Raceway with Winter Jam on Saturday, Dec. 3. The event is hosted by Sonoma Drift, powered by NOS Energy Drink.

The one-day event will feature thrilling competition in Tandem drifting, with racers competing for a first-place prize of $300.

Racing will take place on Turns 4-7 of the 12-turn road course, as drivers work to control a high-horsepower car while it slides sideways at high speed.  Drivers are judged on execution and style rather than who finishes the course fastest.

Formula DRIFT racers Matt Field and Luke Lonberger are scheduled to attend the event as guests (they will not be racing). Field, a San Jose resident, is currently ranked 19th in Formula DRIFT in his Nissan 240 sx. Lonberger, a Los Gatos native, has competed and placed on the podium in US Drift, NCDA events and Formula D Pro Am. Last year he finished second in the Pro Am championship.

Action gets under way at 8 a.m. with practice, while competition is slated to begin at 12:30 p.m.  Admission is just $10 for spectators.  Competitor registration is $120, and all cars must be equipped with a roll cage.

Also, be sure and check out Sonoma Drift, powered by NOS Energy Drink, which runs most Wednesday nights through Nov. 16 at Infineon Raceway. For more information on this program, visit www.infineonraceway.com/sonomadrift.
