A different type of open-wheel racing will take over the Infineon Raceway road course in advance of the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma.

The raceway will host its first Wheeling in Wine Country Charity Bicycle Ride on the twisting 1.99-mile road course on Thursday, Aug. 25, from 6-7:30 p.m., featuring INDYCAR drivers Charlie Kimball, Vitor Meira and Graham Rahal.

Riders of all skill levels are encouraged to attend this fun ride, which will serve as a kickoff to the race weekend, Aug. 26-28.  Admission is free but riders are encouraged to make a donation to  Speedway Children’s Charities and Sonoma County Regional Parks. Speedway Children’s Charities, which has generated more than $3.7 million for Sonoma County youth groups since 2001, is the charitable arm of Infineon Raceway.

Racecar drivers from the SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge, which will be competing over race weekend, are also expected to take part in the charity bicycle ride.

Registration will be set-up outside of Gate 1, the main entrance into the facility, and parking will be available in Lot 2. For more information on the event, contact Hannah Philbin at hphilbin@infineonraceway.com.
