Drifting takes center stage at Infineon Raceway with Summer Jam, Aug. 13-14. The event is hosted by Sonoma Drift, powered by NOS Energy Drink.

There will be action in the Solo, NOS Team Tandem and the featured category of the weekend, Tandem. The weekend will also feature an incredible Summer Car Show on Sunday, Aug. 14, with more than 100 machines, including Mazda, Nissan, BMW, Subaru and more.

Racing will take place on Turns 2-4 of the 12-turn road course, as the drivers work to control a high-horsepower car while it slides sideways at high speed.  Drivers are judged on execution and style rather than who finishes the course fastest.

Formula DRIFT racers Matt Field and Ryan Kado are scheduled to attend the event as guests (they will not be racing). Field, a San Jose resident, is currently ranked 19th in Formula DRIFT in his Nissan 240 sx. Kado, from Sacramento, is the youngest competitor in Formula DRIFT at 19 years old and earned his license by being the first driver to win two Pro-Am Championships.

On Saturday, Aug. 13, there will be Solo exhibitions, the Team Tandem main event and practice for Tandem. The action gets hot on Sunday, Aug. 14, with practice, qualifying and the main event for Tandem. The winner from the Tandem competition will be awarded $1,000.

Action gets under way each day at 10 a.m. and admission is $15 per day for spectators, and $20 for show car registration. You can register your show car in advance by emailing CreamLifeEvents@gmail.com.

Also, be sure and check out Sonoma Drift, powered by NOS Energy Drink, which runs most Wednesday nights through Nov. 16 at Infineon Raceway. Each week, drifters will compete on a specially designed course and they are judged on execution and style. For more information on this program, visit www.infineonraceway.com/sonomadrift.
