Infineon Raceway STP Wednesday Night Drag Racing Results (May 18)
By Jim McCombe

Recent rains finally gave way just in time to allow the resumption of the weekly STP sponsored Wednesday Night Drag races. Modesto's Rubicel Quintero’s long drive paid off when he earned a class victory in the highly competitive Street class. Gilroy's Brian White added his name to the winners list and took the top prize in the newly created Stick Shift class, which is rapidly gaining in popularity. Other winners included Doug Love in Motorcycle, Matt Brians (Comp Rod) Rick McIlmoil (Sport Street) and Marko Perivolaris in High School. The Jack Pot class was not contested due to lack of entries.

In the Top The Cops run off's, the police officers rebounded nicely after being shut out last week by area High School students. They managed to win 4 of their 5 races this week, with Vallejo's Carlo Vargas earning the sole victory for the students.

The STP Wednesday Night Drag races return next week, May 25, and will be followed by a two day Summit ET Bracket race on Memorial Day weekend, May 29-30. These events will be aired live on www.1320go.com
