Eurosport  Events, the promoter of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), has announced an agreement with SPEED Channel to televise the WTCC Race of USA in its entirety on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. PST.

The race, which will be held at the raceway in Sonoma, marks the first-ever event in North America for the international series.  SPEED will re-air the race on Monday, Sept. 24, at 6 a.m. 

“WTCC is made for TV, action packed and nicely produced by Eurosport Events,” said Erik Arneson, vice president, media relations for SPEED. “Sonoma will offer a great theatre for the WTCC’s first appearance in the USA. I’m certain North American motor-sport fans will enjoy WTCC on Speed Channel.”

SPEED has also committed to broadcasting highlights of the three remaining rounds of the 2012 WTCC season from Japan, China and Macau, which will provide 12 hours of coverage of the WTCC in the United States.

In addition to the coverage on SPEED, the WTCC Race of USA will be shown in 176 countries around the world through 87 separate broadcasters in Europe and the Asia Pacific regions.

The Sonoma race weekend will feature a full slate of FIA WTCC action, including two 13-lap sprint races on Sunday, Sept. 23. In addition to the WTCC, the race weekend will also feature the U.S. Touring Car Championship, Auto GP Championship and the Maserati Trofeo World Series.
