Multiple-Casualty Incident Drill Set for Infineon Raceway, April 7
More than 100 representatives from numerous Sonoma County emergency management agencies will participate in a mass-casualty incident (MCI) drill at Infineon Raceway on Thursday, April 7.
The Sonoma County Fire and Emergency Services Department, Sonoma Valley Fire and Rescue, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and numerous additional Fire Departments will host the event to exercise emergency response plans, policies and procedures as they pertain to a mock terrorism incident at Infineon Raceway during a major-event weekend.
More than 140 personnel will be involved in the drill, including 40 volunteers serving as race fans impacted and injured by the mock event.
The exercise, which is funded by the United States Department of Homeland Security, will simulate a car bomb in a spectator area of the raceway and is intended to enhance the readiness of the Sonoma County Operational Area jurisdictions to respond to terrorism and mass-casualty incidents and other large-scale emergencies, as well as identify future training needs.
