The Summer Jam event, which is hosted by Sonoma Drift, powered by NOS Energy Drink, will take place on Turns 2-4 of the 12-turn road course, as the drivers work to control their high-horsepower car while it slides sideways at high speed.  Drivers are judged on execution and style rather than who finishes the course fastest.

To complete the show, professional Formula DRIFT racers, including San Jose’s Matt Field, Ryan Bell and Gabe Stone, as well as Los Gatos’ Luke Lonberger, Santa Rosa’s Jason Bostrom, and Santa Cruz’ Joshua Kravitz are scheduled to put on a professional show at noon on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.

The weekend will feature individual practice in the morning followed by tandem practice in the afternoon. Saturday will feature team tandem practice and competition beginning at 1 p.m. with individual qualifying set for 3:30 p.m. Sunday’s final competition is set to being at 3 p.m. The grand prize winner will be awarded $1,000.

Drifting action gets under way each day at 8:15 a.m. and admission is $15 per day for spectators (kids 12 and under FREE), and $20 for Sunday’s show car registration. You can register your show car in advance by emailing bshaw@racesonoma.com or visit racesonoma.com/sonomadrift for more information.

In addition, the STP Bracket Drags take over the lightening-quick quarter-mile drag strip with back-to-back days of straight-line racing. Featured classes include High School, Trophy, Motorcycle, Sportsman, Pro and Super Pro.

Gates open at 8 a.m., with racing spanning from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Cost for spectators is $15, while cost for competitors is as follows: High School and Trophy ($25); Association classes ($35); Sportsman or Motorcycle ($40); Pro or Super Pro ($60).
