The Classic Sports Racing Group (CSRG) returns to the raceway in Sonoma, Oct. 6-7, for the 9th annual CSRG Charity Challenge race weekend.  

Vintage car racing will take center stage in Sonoma with more than 200 vintage racecars set to grace the road course over the weekend. The event will feature the Formula Car Invitational, encompassing Historic Formula One, Formula Two, Formula Atlantic and Super Vees. Also on the schedule is the V8 Thunder Challenge for Historic Trans-Am cars, Historic NASCAR, V8-powered sports cars, IMSA GTU and SCCA U2 Trans-Am /2.5 Challenge sedans up to 1972. Fans can expect to see memorable makes such as Lotus, Alfa Romeo, MG, Lola, Porsche, Austin Healey and Jaguar, among others.

The event will feature practice and qualifying on Saturday with vintage racing slated for the 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at the gate and are $25 each day or $40 for a two-day pass.

Proceeds from this race weekend will benefit the Sonoma Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, the charitable arm of the raceway.  CSRG has contributed more than $500,000 to Sonoma County youth organizations through Speedway Children’s Charities since 2002.

For a $50-$250 donation, fans can take a thrilling, three-lap ride around the world famous road course in one of some thirty different participating race cars. . The Charity Track Rides will begin at 12:45 p.m. each day and are on a first-come basis.

The race weekend will also feature a charity raffle with all proceeds benefiting SCC.  Tickets are: $10 each; $25 for 3; and $50 for a 'stretch.' Prizes include a GoPro camera; 2013 season pass to the raceway in Sonoma and entries into the 24 Hours of Lemons (www.24houroflemons.com) and CSRG events. Raffle tickets can be purchased in the Panasonic Technology Center, adjacent to the Wine Country Winner's Circle in the main paddock.
